Binaural Beat Music

There are many hypnosis and relaxation CD’s out there. Some of them are good, some of them are absolute rubbish, and a few are really excellent. What the excellent ones have in common is the use of something called binaural beat music in conjunction with hypnotic suggestions. I don’t know about you, but at some point I grew really curious about what exactly binaural beats are, how they work and what they can do for me.

Basically, a binaural beat occurs when there are two impulses below 1000hz which differ no more than 30hz are presented to the brain. Our brain then tries to mesh them together, as this would be the normal way to find out where the sound is coming from, yet this time it leads to a third or “binaural” beat that is not typically heard but more experienced. It becomes and auditory beat.

This beat is generated in the so calledsuperior olivary nucleus, and then relayed into the cortex. In a process called frequency following response, the brain is, through the use of this beat, induced into altered states. So basically, binaural beat music can help you induce altered states of mind.

There are different types of binaural beat music, depending on what kind of altered state you want to induce (yes there is more than just one altered state!).Binaural beats in the delta (1 to 4 Hz) and theta (4 to 8 Hz) ranges have been associated with reports of relaxed, meditative, and creative states and used as an aid to falling asleep. Binaural beats in the alpha frequencies (8 to 12 Hz) have increased alpha brain waves and binaural beats in the beta frequencies (typically 16 to 24 Hz) have been associated with reports of increased concentration or alertness and improved memory.

Each hemisphere has its own superior olivary nucleus, so binaural beat music also induces a synchronization in the frequency of the hemispheres. This has been associated with a deep meditative or hypnotic state, and this can also lead to a enhance brain state as there is more cross colossal communication.

This was quite technical, I confess. However, binaural beat music does have a scientific basis, and can help to induce altered states. Passively listening to this music might no alter your state, yet it can greatly facilitate changing the state of consciousness if you wish to. There are many different types of binaural beat music out there, and tastes vary, however it is a well worth investment for mere purposes of relaxation…

There is a new project called Psyche Sonics. That uses binaural beats
and isochronics for research in human potential, meditation, and
brainwave entrainment, and more. You can experience some of our sets at:

They have been studying human potential of the mind. There is a
philanthropy website called Ideablob that pays a $10,000 grant for the
idea with the most support. They are using this resource to put
funding towards research on altered states of consciousness with
sound, psionics, deprivation tanks, and other cutting edge technology.

    The web site is

We are hoping to get the word out and help generate more knowledge on
Binaural beats and these other alternative research. With your help we
can start up some new exciting research.

    Thank you for yo

  6. Incredible post on binaural beats. I’ve had incredibly beneficial experiences while playing distinct styles of binaurals. I’ve found I am immensely affected by binaurals that improve paying attention and preserving information and facts. Even so, you should be mindful on some of these commerical websites. They put together some outrageous promises. Binaural beats aren’t miracles. They do the trick, but the truth is you will have to listen every week to completely realize any results.

For the record I reserve my right to keep my real world friends and
